Aside from being a software engineer and an inventor, I also study classical yoga and meditation. From my perspective, the purpose of yoga and meditation is to optimize the functioning of the human biological machine so as to enjoy the most vivid and realistic experience that a human life affords. When studying one's inner experience, or personal experience of life, there are at least two forms of truth. The first is empirical truth. Or truth as defined by science. The second is the truth of experience. Or truth as it happens to a person.
While googling Pentawater to recommend it to a fellow human as potentially beneficial, I discovered a wide range of criticisms for the company and it's products. However, while it appears that the critics are happy to vocalize their criticisms, they seem quite unwilling to undertake their own study of the Pentawater product. Scientific or otherwise (ie. Pepsi challenge).
I just love it when rah-rah science believers bang their drums like religious zealots. In the case of Pentawater, the number one complaint leveled against the company and product is the lack of scientific studies published in peer-reviewed journals. And we all know how reliable peer-reviewed scientific journals are:
The purpose of publishing articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals is not to advance our factual understanding about the universe. The purpose of publishing in peer-reviewed journals it to obtain research grant money from public and private institutions. Any honest scientist will tell you that. To get your research funded. To justify a tenured position at a university. Ad nauseum. The research that gets funded is the research that gets published. And along the way, a certain subset of useful scientific facts may be produced. Other sources of useful scientific facts include: insight, observation, trial and error and accidental discovery.
Some Facts About Pentawater
Between the years of 2000-2004, I personally consumed approx 3 palettes of Pentawater.
That is (to the best of my memory) approximately 3 x 72 cases x 24 0.5 litre bottles. Or about 5000 bottles.
Purchased in quantity, the cost of Pentawater is approximately the same as other forms of bottled drinking water.
During the course of taking delivery of one palette, I visited the Bio-Hydration Labs factory and was given a tour.
I also had the opportunity to meet the inventor Bill Holloway, a friendly and down-to-earth individual. The Pentawater manufacturing process is more complex than other water-purifying facilities I have seen
(including a state of the art Japanese filtration system used by the water purifying facility at the corner of Orange/Carson in Long Beach).
It consists of a multi-stage sequence of filters, which, I assume, filter progressively smaller impurities from the water. The fully-automated production line takes ordinary San Diego tap water and produces the bottled product.
Based on my own consumption of Pentawater and my own non-scientific, experiential comparisons with other forms of drinking water, I can conclude that, regardless as to the clustering/arrangement of water molecules, Pentawater does have experiential health benefits. If you have questions about the effectiveness of this brand of drinking water, my suggestion is to undertake a personal experiment.
